What Is File Metadata?
Every digital file carries invisible data called metadata. When you take a photo with your phone, it records your exact GPS location, the camera model, the date and time, and even the software used to edit it. This data is embedded in the file and travels with it when you share it.
PDF documents store the author's name, the application that created them, creation and modification dates, and sometimes even revision history. Word documents (DOCX) can reveal your name, company, the number of edits, and who last modified the file.

What metadata does CleanFile remove from photos?
CleanFile removes all EXIF data from photos, including GPS location coordinates, camera make and model, date and time taken, software used for editing, exposure settings, and any other embedded metadata.
Will removing metadata affect file quality?
For images, we re-encode through the browser's Canvas API at 92% quality for JPEG. The quality loss is minimal and usually imperceptible. For PDF and DOCX files, only metadata fields are cleared — the content remains completely unchanged.
